AudioScape Golden58 Preamp brings the sound and character of AudioScape’s Golden58 stereo tube preamp into your DAW.
Developed in collaboration with Kiive Audio, the plugin is based on the original Golden58 hardware circuit created by Chris Yetter and the AudioScape team. The original hardware was a limited-run design built around six tubes and four NOS input transformers, using the 5879 tube as a central part of its sound.
The result is a preamp and saturation processor designed to add analog-inspired warmth, harmonic content and drive to a wide range of audio sources.
The Golden58 hardware design used premium NOS 5879 and 12AU7 tubes along with four NOS input transformers. AudioScape describes the circuit as an original design inspired by the character of classic tube preamps while incorporating its own modern touches.
In plugin form, Golden58 brings this tone-shaping concept into an in-the-box workflow.
Use subtle settings to add warmth and thickness, or push the processing further for stronger saturation and harmonic character.
Golden58 is not only designed for microphone-style preamp coloration.
It can also be used as a saturation tool across your entire production.
One of the software-specific additions is Auto-Gain.
When increasing saturation, the perceived loudness of a signal can also increase. Auto-Gain is designed to help maintain more consistent output levels after the saturation and harmonics stage, making it easier to judge tonal changes without being misled by a simple volume increase.
Golden58 also includes Output Trims, providing additional flexibility when balancing drive and output level.
This allows producers and engineers to push the processing while retaining more control over the resulting level and saturation behavior.
