Neural DSP Mantra: Neural DSP’s First Vocal Production Plugin

Vocal production usually means a long chain of plugins: a pitch corrector here, a compressor there, an EQ, a de-esser, a saturation stage, then delay and reverb sends, maybe a doubler. Neural DSP Mantra collapses that entire chain into a single plugin — the company’s first dedicated vocal production tool, released in July 2025 and now at version 1.1.0 with an updated Preset Explorer.

Mantra is built around a simple idea: every essential tool for modern vocal production should live in one place, in the right order, with modules that talk to each other. Instead of fighting eight plugin windows, you open one interface with a signal path that mirrors how top vocal producers actually work — correction first, then dynamics and tone, then width and space.

And this isn’t a one-trick pony. While it was designed for vocals, every module in Mantra works just as well on synths, drums, and guitars — the saturation, modulation, and space sections are genuinely useful far beyond vocal chains.

Today only: get Neural DSP Mantra for €59.99 instead of the regular €189 — that’s 68% off. SKU: NEURALDSP-MANTRA.

The Correction Section: Clean, Tune, and Shape the Source

Everything starts at the source. Mantra’s Correction section handles the recording before it ever reaches the creative effects, and it’s far more than a basic pitch tool.

Tune is the real-time pitch correction engine, with two smart controls: Tolerance sets how far off-pitch notes can be before correction kicks in, and Humanize preserves natural pitch drift and vibrato so the result sounds like a singer, not a robot. You can go from transparent, barely-there correction to full modern hard-tune character.

Sculpt is the adaptive EQ that analyzes your voice and microphone in real time, adjusting itself as the performance changes — think of it as an intelligent first pass that cleans up resonances before you reach for manual EQ.

Around those sit the essentials: a noise Gate to keep breaths and room noise under control, a dedicated De-Esser to tame harsh sibilance, and a full 4-band parametric EQ with high-pass and low-pass filters for final shaping. In Mixing Mode, Sculpt adds enhanced dynamic spectral shaping for full-resolution detail.

Dynamics & Saturation: Character from Three Iconic Worlds

The Multimode Compressor gives you three legendary flavors in one knob-selectable module: Tube for the smooth, forgiving optical response of an LA-2A-style unit, Stress for the aggressive, punchy character of a Distressor-style FET design, and Multi for the hyper-modern OTT-style multiband slam that dominates contemporary pop, hip-hop, and electronic vocals.

The Multimode Saturation module follows the same philosophy: Tape for warm analog glue, Tube for Culture-Vulture-style harmonic richness and driven edge, and Digital for bitcrushed lo-fi grit. Stacked together, the compressor and saturation stages can take a flat recorded vocal from dull to finished with two modules — or drive a synth or drum bus into entirely new territory.

Harmonies, Space & Modulation: Width, Depth, and Movement

Harmonies generates up to 8 pitch-shifted voices from your lead vocal, with a DI Mute switch so you can audition the harmony stack in isolation. Build lush choirs, octave doubles, or subtle thickening layers without a single extra plugin.

The Multimode Delay offers four distinct engines — Analog (BBD bucket-brigade warmth), Circular (inspired by the Lexicon PCM-70 circular delays), Tape (RE-201-style space echo), and Dual — each with a built-in ducker that keeps echoes out of the way of the dry vocal automatically.

The Multimode Reverb keeps it focused with three essential spaces — Hall, Plate, and Ambiance — plus its own ducker for the same reason: reverb that breathes around the vocal instead of washing it out.

Modulation adds the finishing movement: a Chorus inspired by the TC 2290, a classic Flanger, and a swirling Phaser. And running through it all is Neural DSP’s proprietary Doubler, the fastest route to the wide, stacked vocal sound that defines modern production.

Tracking Mode vs Mixing Mode: Record Fast, Mix Deep

One of Mantra’s smartest design decisions is its dual personality. Tracking Mode runs the plugin at low latency with light CPU usage, so you can monitor a fully processed vocal chain while recording — the singer hears the finished sound in their headphones, which changes how they perform. Mixing Mode switches to full-resolution processing with enhanced Sculpt dynamic spectral shaping for maximum detail when every nuance matters.

That means Mantra can stay on the track from the first take to the final bounce — one plugin, one preset, evolving with the production instead of being swapped out halfway.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Neural DSP Mantra really Neural DSP’s first vocal plugin?
Yes. Neural DSP built its reputation on guitar amp modeling (Archetype series, Quad Cortex), and Mantra — launched July 2025 — is their first plugin designed specifically for vocal production. It applies the same deep DSP expertise to the vocal chain.

Do I need an iLok dongle to use Mantra?
No physical dongle is required, but you do need the free iLok License Manager software and an iLok account to authorize the plugin. Machine-based authorization is supported.

Can I use Mantra on instruments, not just vocals?
Absolutely. While every module was tuned with vocals in mind, the saturation, compressor, modulation, delay, and reverb sections work beautifully on synths, drums, and guitars. Many producers use it as a creative multi-effect.

What’s the difference between Tracking Mode and Mixing Mode?
Tracking Mode prioritizes low latency and light CPU load so you can record through the fully processed chain in real time. Mixing Mode unlocks full-resolution processing with enhanced Sculpt dynamic spectral shaping for the final mix.

Which formats does Mantra support?
64-bit VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX, plus a standalone application — so it works in every major DAW on Windows 10+ and macOS 13+ (including native Apple Silicon).

How many harmony voices can Mantra generate?
Up to 8 pitch-shifted harmony voices, with a DI Mute switch for soloing the harmony stack while you dial it in.
